I've seen handfuls of people leave to other companies for better pay. Fact of the matter is that it's hard to support a family in the Bay Area with what they pay you here.

Management could have a little more oversight and accountability from senior management and the higher leaders. Some managers slack off and don't even know whats going on within their own staff. Benefits and pay are comparable, especially considering its in the national security space and a FFRDC. They pay higher than most of the surrounding businesses, so it gives you a reason to stay despite how bad the job or culture might be. The organization is also still quite outdated in many of its policies, and lacks diversity.
